Catherine Lee's Ride for MS

On April 16-17, 2005, I will join thousands of cyclists for the 2005 BP MS 150 Bike Tour. Although this two-day Tour from Houston to Austin is not a race, it raises money for the race to find the cure for multiple sclerosis. Last year, more than 12,000 registered cyclists raised $8.8 million to help end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system. Although researchers are making progress toward their goal, the cause of and cure for the disease still remains a mystery.

By riding 180 miles through the Texas Hill Country this April, I will enjoy the outdoors, ride with friends and experience the ultimate cycling experience. More importantly, my efforts help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter fund breakthrough research to find the cause, cure and treatment of MS. The chapter also provides a variety of much-needed services and programs that directly help people living with MS and their families in Texas. The goal for the 2005 Bike Tour is $10 million and my personal goal is $ 500.
Therefore, I am asking friends, family members and co-workers to make a one-time, tax-deductible donation. All proceeds benefit the National MS Society’s research and chapter programs. The National MS Society, Lone Star Chapter serves more than 14,000 people living with MS and their families from Beaumont to Del Rio and from Dallas to Brownsville. The chapter covers 141 counties, more than half the counties in Texas.

Riding in the BP MS 150 Bike Tour is a challenging physical feat for most people. The challenges are many and the training is intense and arduous. There are many obstacles even leading up to the starting line. The weekend is unpredictable with hills, bad weather, blisters and fatigue, just to name a few. The rider requires a lot of support.

Please support me in this personal endeavor and, in turn, help people with this devastating disease. Please send your contribution to the link on the "donate" page. Any amount you feel comfortable giving is much appreciated. Thank you very much for your support!
